Our Mission
That the Word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of Believers’ Bible Society is to glorify God and help His churches by efficiently providing unrestricted Bible translations and Christian literature produced with reverence for God and absolute confidence in His words, which are preserved in the Masoretic Text and the Textus Receptus.
Vision Statement
We want everyone to have access to an unrestricted Bible translation in his or her heart language as well as understandable, precise, useful, high-quality, Baptist literature faithfully based on the Masoretic text and the Textus Receptus. Our initial focus is meeting the needs of speakers of the Lithuanian and English languages.
See what we’ve been up to!
What We Do
Our work is focused on two projects for Lithuanian and one for English.
Lithuanian
- The Lithuanian language Believers’ Heritage Translation of the Bible. A translation of the Bible done with absolute confidence in the words of the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Textus Receptus of the New Testament.
- A hymnal to help believers glorify God in the beauty of holiness. The independent Baptists of Lithuania need a carefully prepared hymnal with as many high-quality psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs as possible, but no worldly music.
English
- The KJV-ESL (King James Version for speakers of English as a Second Language, or King James Version – Extra Simple Language). A setting of the KJV that retains every word of the Authorized Version, but is typeset with readily-accessible explanations. This edition will allow learners of English as a second language and all other English speakers to quickly learn the meaning of words or phrases that are either archaic or have changed in meaning since the KJV was first published.
Who We Are
Born again believing Baptists who have served Lithuanians and English speakers for decades.
Stage 1
- God saved me in 1983, and I’ve never gotten over it! By Januuary of 1994 my family was in Lithuania serving the Lord and His people while seeking the lost.
Stage 2
- After 27 years in Lithuania, God led us back to the USA where we still work for His glory and the benefit of His people who speak either Lithuanian or English or both.
The Reasons
behind the Resolve
Reverence for God; absolute confidence in His Words.
Imagine this:
- A missionary explaining that salvation is by grace through faith, not of works, while the Bible translation he’s using says baptism is the way to get forgiveness of sins.
- A new believer in Jesus Christ reading his or her Bible and wondering why some of the things in it (either in the translation itself or in the explanatory notes) clearly contradict other things it says.
- A local pastor who has learned some Greek trying to explain to his congregation that some of the conjunctions and even phrases in the original are simply not in the translation they have. He wants those he shepherds to trust God’s Word, but he has to tell them the translation they have is not very precise.
- The consternation of believers who believe God’s words do not change when they are offered a new and different New Testament translation based on a new and different Greek text that was never used by any of Christ’s churches in previous centuries. Did the underlying words of God change?!
- A multi-denominational committee forcing a translator to change his translation since some denominations might not like the way he translated God’s words describing justification or propitiation.
EFFICIENCY
Imagine this:
- A missionary Bible translator having to spend hours and hours filling out paperwork for the home office.
- Millions upon millions of dollars being spent to produce one Bible translation, and it taking multiple decades to be finished.
- A translator spending valuable time negotiating translation decisions with talented linguists and other specialists who do not even believe the words they are translating are definitely the same words God gave.
